Beyond the
classroom

  • Music

    Music

Building a strong academic foundation is a key focus at St Cyprian’s, but we encourage our girls to participate in the full arts and sports programmes on offer.

The Music Department nurtures each student’s musical growth through a wide range of opportunities. Orff and Interactive Rhythm classes build strong foundations in musicianship and music literacy.

We offer specialist tuition in most orchestral instruments, as well as piano, guitar and rock and pop. Participating in ensembles and the choir helps our girls to develop collaborative skills and provides them with an enriching musical experience.

  • Sport

    Sport

The Sports Department has adopted the long-term athlete development model (LTAD Model) approach, with a progressive and developmental approach, based on skills.

Using this approach, we have found that our girls are strong, focused and balanced athletes by the time they are ready to participate at a competitive level.

Round Square

At St Cyprian’s Preparatory School, the Round Square ethos forms the foundation of our approach to education, beginning in the Foundation Phase and growing progressively through each year. With a strong emphasis on character development, leadership, service and environmental responsibility, the Round Square IDEALS shape the way our students learn, think and engage with the world.

Our students are encouraged to become reflective, courageous and compassionate young people. This is evident in their participation in a rich array of activities, including community projects, environmental programmes, outings, conferences and camps, all designed to nurture integrity, resilience and a sense of purpose.

By Grade 7, students take on a more active leadership role. Every student serves on a committee aligned to the Round Square IDEALS, gaining hands‑on experience in teamwork, initiative, service and stewardship. They also have the opportunity to attend national and international Round Square conferences, where they collaborate with peers from other Round Square schools, explore global challenges and deepen their understanding of responsible, values‑driven leadership.

As our Grade 7 students prepare to transition to High School, we celebrate far more than academic readiness. We witness young women who demonstrate courage, empathy, leadership and a genuine commitment to serving their communities and caring for the environment. They leave the Preparatory School as confident, principled and socially conscious individuals, ready to embrace the next stage of their journey at St Cyprian’s School and beyond.
