Campus café and al fresco courtyard
Reimagining our school dining experience

Welcome to the future heart of our school community. We are reinventing our school dining space, featuring a revitalised kitchen, upgraded café and tuckshop, and a new outdoor courtyard. 

The transformed, state-of-the-art facility will be a warm and welcoming hub, serving and strengthening the entire school community – staff and students, visitors and friends, conference delegates, touring groups and boarders.  

It will connect girls of all ages to share meals, build friendships and celebrate milestones – serving the High School, Preparatory School and Pre-Preparatory School, as well as the Katherine House boarders. 

The scope of the project

  • Renovation and remedial building works

    Renovation and remedial building works

    The work will cover essential structural and functional upgrades to the kitchen, serving and seating areas in the dining room and courtyard café and electrical and plumbing works.

  • Al fresco seating and dining area

    Al fresco seating and dining area

    This will involve earth and structural work to build up a terraced area, adjoining the current dining area and semi-permanent covering (if approved by the Heritage Council). This expansion will enhance the capacity and appeal of the dining area, providing an outdoor option for students to enjoy their meals.

  • Interior design and décor

    Interior design and décor

    The expansion into an outdoor area and reimagination of the current dining area to improve flow and increase capacity requires aesthetic and functional improvements, including furniture, fixtures – a salad and soup bar, juice and smoothie station and hydration bar – and equipment that create an inviting and comfortable dining experience. 

  • Kitchen equipment

    Kitchen equipment

    New high-performing industrial kitchen equipment will need to be procured, including refrigeration, a steam oven, dishwasher, extractors, work tops, sinks, juicers and blenders, ensuring efficiency, longevity and consistent high-quality meal production.
