Boarding at St Cyprian's School is a rewarding and fulfilling experience. As a boarder, girls are provided with an opportunity for development of character, self-discipline, leadership and initiative while nurturing lifelong friendships.
Weekly boarders as well as full boarders are accepted into the Katherine House from Grade 7 to Grade 12.
Professional staff, including two night matrons and house staff, offer a caring and encouraging environment that provides the necessary support for each girl within the boarding family to strive to reach her full potential and to manage the many successes and challenges of school life.
Healthy, well-balanced meals are provided. Owing to operational limitations, no specific dietary requirements other than the following can be provided for: Vegetarians, Lactose intolerance (soya milk and yoghurt will be provided); Gluten/wheat intolerance (gluten-free bread and pasta will be provided). There is a sick bay and the school doctor lives in close proximity to the school.
For recreational purposes, boarders have access to all of the School's sports facilities on weekends and after school. In addition, pool, keram and table tennis are available in the Games Room while a TV and VCR recorder are available in the Common Room. There is also access to e-mail and internet.
A planned and supervised recreational programme is offered on the weekends. Activities may include shopping, beach trips and cultural activities such as visits to the theatre, museums or galleries.
Boarders come from many geographical areas within South Africa, Africa and overseas. This exposure to other cultures is an enriching experience. Boarders learn self-reliance and independence, as well as tolerance for others. Through our care and encouragement, we aim to develop in our students a set of values based on respect, consideration, trust and honesty.
Situated conveniently and safely above the Senior School, the Katherine House enjoys magnificent views of Table Mountain and Table Bay.
