Broad Goals
St Cyprian’s School is a truly extraordinary place. Those who pass through its doors, whether learners, parents or visitors, cannot help but be touched by an energy and spirit that pervades the atmosphere.To continue to promote the intellectual, spiritual and community qualities the school inculcates in its learners, it has become necessary to renew and develop the kind of physical environment that will develop them.
The historical and traditional infrastructure needs renewing and uplifting to accommodate the technological realities of the 21st century and the sporting requirements of a large school. Thus, the “Creating Future Leaders” project was born. It aims to preserve all that is extraordinary at the school while assertively positioning it strongly as an innovative school of excellence with an eye on the future. Current, 20th century infrastructure is creaking at the seams! It needs adaptation to accommodate the needs of a different type of education – an education curriculum that will prepare our girls for a rapidly changing, fast moving, technological future!
Our specific campaign goals are:
• To provide the facilities and amenities required to achieve the integrated balance of education that is so much a part of the St Cyprian’s philosophical paradigm.• To develop new academic, cultural and sporting centres of excellence.
• To expand the school facilities and amenities to comfortably accommodate 820 girls.
The project commenced in 2009, and is scheduled for completion in the 2011 academic year – capital permitting.
There might be a perception that the project timing is unrealistically compressed, but the reality is that we cannot delay any longer! Building costs continue to rise at an alarming rate, and the school is already under severe pressure in terms of the available infrastructure.
Success and growing pains are often travelling companions! Our pupil numbers have quadrupled in the last 15 years. Space on the campus is at a premium, and core facilities, like the science laboratories, the creative arts and sporting facilities are inadequate.
